Responsibilities
  • Position is fully responsible for the accuracy of all account level transactions entered into the portfolio management system.  Transactions include dividends, interest, paydowns, reorgs, client additions and withdrawals, etc.  All accounts are monitored for quality by continuously reconciling transactions and holdings records with custodial bank/brokerage firm data.   Manage all staff needed to perform these functions, establish policies and procedures, and ensure that all processes are performed to established standards on a day to day and longer term basis.  Identify key performance indicators and publish results.   Design, implement and continuously improve processes.
  • Continually monitor adequacy of software that supports accounting functions.  Identify and communicate improvement opportunities; participate in testing of new releases; and ensure that open issues are resolved by internal project management and/or MIS staff.
  • Ensure that the needs of all customers including Portfolio Management Teams, Performance Measurement, and Trading Support staff are identified via proactive customer communication and that these needs are met.
  • Coordinate accounting functions around new strategies and investment vehicles.  Lead groups on new accounting pronouncements/policies. 
  • Oversee custody statement retention function, as well as, third party vendor fees.
  • Other duties as assigned, including management/personnel oversight. 
Qualifications 
  • Seven or more years investment accounting experience required
  • Five years supervisory experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in finance or accounting preferred
  • CPA required
  • MBA or CFA desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff
  • Comprehensive understanding of domestic and multi-currency investment accounting
  • Clear ability to develop processes that ensure efficient workflows and accurate and timely outputs
  • Strong communication skills that elicit customers’ needs and wants; capable of managing customers’ expectations relative to resource availability
  • Extreme detail orientation and commitment to meeting identified quality standards
  • Delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding others
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects including project planning and management
