The Investment Banking Analyst Program in the Corporate Finance Department offers a two or three year position for undergraduates interested in investment banking. After an extensive four-week training program in our Chicago office, analysts spend their first year as generalists. Analysts are responsible for financial valuation, due diligence, pitch book creation and other tasks as it relates to completing projects. Deal teams are structured to allow analysts a high level of direct contact with senior bankers and clients. After one year, through a matching process, analysts specialize in an industry sector (Consumer, Healthcare, Financial Services, Business Services or Technology) or product group (Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Placements or Financial Sponsors).
After two years, most analysts go to business school, to a private equity firm, or pursue other finance-related positions. Outstanding performers are offered a third year with increased responsibility.
Qualifications: Prospective candidates should be highly motivated, detail-oriented and team players. Although no specific major or concentration is required, William Blair & Company seeks individuals with excellent mathematical, writing, verbal and computer skills, as well as a general understanding of accounting and finance.
